The son of former YouTube boss Susan Wojcicki has been found dead in his dorm room.
Marco Troper, 19, was found unresponsive in his room at the University of California Berkeley earlier this week and later pronounced dead.
His grandmother Esther q3Wojcicki told SFGATE: ‘He ingested a drug, and we don’t know what was in it. One thing we do know, it was a drug.’
UC Berkeley spokesperson Janet Gilmore said there were no signs of foul play in Marco’s death, but an investigation was underway.
His death was confirmed on social media by his grandmother, who posted: ‘Tragedy hit my family yesterday My beloved grandson Marco Troper, age 19 passed away yesterday. Our family is devastated beyond comprehension.
‘Marco’s life was cut too short. And we are all devastated, thinking about all the opportunities and life experiences that he will miss, and we will miss together.’

The grieving grandmother told local news she believes this was a ‘drug experiment’ gone wrong.
She added: ‘I think the most important thing is that teenagers and college students need to know that drugs today are not the same as the drugs of yesterday, they’re often laced with fentanyl.
‘So while they think they know what they are doing if they were to look at the statistics nationwide, they can see that more people die of drug overdoses than from the pandemic.’
His mum, Susan, worked as the CEO of YouTube from 2014 to 2023.
She stepped down from her high profile position in 2023, citing a wish to focus on family.
