Kim Jong Un channels every man in east London as he launches missile

It’s a pose which anyone who’s gone out for a pint in east London on a weekend will be familiar with: a man trying too hard while lounging in a second-hand leather jacket and flicking cigarette ash.

While the photo may channel a Dalston-esque male persona, instead of a lad who loves to go to Jolene with their trusty tote bag: it’s a dictator watching with glee as officials test a surface-to-sea missile.

Recently released photos of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un show him laughing with officials as he nonchalantly takes drags from a cigarette.

The carefully planned photo op was taken as he oversaw the test of a new surface-to-sea missile and visited a munitions factory.

The new missile, called Padasuri-6, or ‘Sea Eagle-6’, flew over the sea and hit its intended target, according to local media.

Jong Un seemed more than pleased with the results of the test launch – which came at a time of heightened tensions between North and South Korea.

On New Year’s Day, Jong-Un told his military it should ‘thoroughly annihilate’ the US and South Korea if provoked, according to state media.

He’s also vowed to boost national defences in 2024 to cope with what he has described as an unprecedented US-led confrontation.

‘If the enemy opts for military confrontation and provocation against the DPRK, our army should deal a deadly blow to thoroughly annihilate them by mobilising all the toughest means and potentialities without [a] moment’s hesitation,’ he said.

Even as tensions soar in the region, Jong-Un’s choice of fashion has provided a slight reprieve as many netizens focus on his fashion.

In January, Jong Un took his daughter Kim Ju-ae along with him during a visit to a missile-launch vehicle production plant.

The dad and daughter opted to wear similar fluffy-necked leather overcoat – channeling a more Shoreditch inspired fashion.
