Gleeful Arsenal fans have taken great delight in pointing out that the only trophy Harry Kane could win this season looks like the Gunners’ badge.

Bayern Munich, who have won 11 Bundesliga titles in a row, slipped to a disastrous 3-0 defeat to league leaders Bayer Leverkusen last weekend to leave themselves five points adrift of the summit.

Thomas Tuchel’s men were also dumped out of the DFB-Pokal by third division side Saarbrucken in November, who stunned the Bavarian giants by scoring a 96th minute winner in one of the biggest shocks in German football history.

The German Super Cup, which saw Kane make his debut just a day after completing his move from Tottenham, also slipped through Bayern’s fingers courtesy of a 3-0 loss to Leipzig in August.

Assuming Bayern cannot overcome the five point deficit in the league to Xabi Alonso’s side, the only other chance of silverware for Kane and his teammates this season is in the Champions League.

As such, Kane, who has never won a team trophy in his career, could remarkably finish his first season at the Allianz Arena with only individual success to his name.

The England captain currently tops the Bundesliga goalscoring charts with 24 goals, seven ahead of Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, leaving him in pole position to win the league’s Golden Boot award.

The Torjägerkanone, which literally translates as ‘goalscorer cannon’, is given to the top goalscorer in the Bundesliga – and the trophy is a remarkable resemblance to the old artillery gun on Arsenal’s badge.

Given Kane’s association with Arsenal’s arch-rivals Tottenham, fans of the red side of London have been quick to point out the irony.

One Arsenal fan said on X: ‘So, Harry Kane could finish this season as the Bundesliga’s top scorer, but still without a championship trophy to his name… And the funniest part – Have you seen what the award for being top scorer in Germany actually looks like?’

Another user added: ‘That’s absolutely amazing! Although part of me wants Bayern to win it because that would be proper spursy if Kane was to leave and win silverware immediately.’

A third user said: ‘Travels to Germany, wins a Gunner trophy, still not a league winner.’

Kane actually grew up as an Arsenal fan before eventually going on to become Tottenham’s highest-ever goalscorer, even spending time in the club’s academy before being released in 2002 aged nine.
