Manchester United legend Roy Keane has claimed that manager Erik ten Hag has been ‘forced’ to play Rasmus Hojlund this season.
United splashed out £72m to sign the Denmark international striker this summer and it took him 1026 minutes to register his first Premier League goal.
Hojlund has been in fine form in recent weeks, though, with five goals and two assists across his last five top-flight matches.
Speaking after Hojlund scored in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa, Keane told Sky Sports: ‘He’s on fire, it took him a few months.
‘It’s more settled and he’s got confidence. I believe every time he’s on the pitch, he thinks ‘I’m going to score a goal for Man United’ – he’s showing good form.
‘The manager has been forced to play him week in and week out – it’s been a big help.’
Meanwhile, Keane has insisted that United’s celebrations at full-time were not ‘over the top’ after Arsenal were recently criticised for over-celebrating their win over Liverpool.

‘It’s not over the top,’ Keane added. ‘They are enjoying it. There is an edge to the games.
‘It’s a big win, a big winning goal. We felt a winning goal was coming. Villa certainly had chances.
‘But that’s a huge goal for United. They have that momentum. Spurs and Villa will be worried. The goalkeeper looks a little more solid.’
