I don’t rely on deities, can’t be kidnapped, assassinated – Oluwo of Iwo

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbduraRasheed Akanbi has declared that he can’t be kidnapped or assassinated by men of the underworld.

Akanbi explained that he does not rely solely on deities, hence can’t be kidnapped or assassinated.

Speaking with journalists in his palace, the monarch said traditional rulers should trust in the Almighty God for their protection.

He said traditional rulers’ continued reliance on deities would bring dishonour to their thrones.

According to Akanbi: “I am telling you right here that no one would dare attempt to kidnap or mark me for assassination.

“I am covered by God’s protection, not any deity or gods. I am using this opportunity to call on my colleague monarchs to stop putting their hopes on deities and return everything to the almighty God whom they represent.”

This is coming when the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsola, were assassinated last Monday while returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Similarly, the Koro of Olukoro, General Segun Aremu (retd), in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State was also killed in his palace, while his wife was abducted
