Some Chelsea players within Mauricio Pochettino’s squad regret signing such long-term contracts at the club, according to reports.
Since co-owner Todd Boehly took over from Roman Abramovich in May 2022, the Blues have decided to hand out lengthy contracts to their new signings.
Mykhailo Mudryk, recruited in January 2023, was handed an eight-and-a-half-year contract after arriving at Stamford Bridge in a £88.5m deal from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Enzo Fernandez arrived in the same transfer window for £106.8m and was given the same – with his deal not expiring until 2031.
Summer signings Moises Caicedo and Nicolas Jackson are also under contract until 2031 while Chelsea have nine other played tied down until 2030.
That includes Robert Sanchez, Benoit Badiashile, Djordje Petrovic, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto, Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu and Deivid Washington.
According to The Athletic, some of Chelsea’s new arrivals have privately expressed regret at the long-term contracts they have signed.

It is thought that they do not see the ‘grand project’ that was sold to them in the first place.
