Sevilla star Lucas Ocampos has called on La Liga to take action after a fan poked him in the bum while he was taking a throw-in during a game against Rayo Vallecano on Monday night.
The visitors secured a much-needed 2-1 victory at the Estadio de Vallecas thanks to a brace from Youssef En-Nesyri, though the contest was rather bizarrely overshadowed.
In the 33rd minute of the game, Ocampos came over to the sideline to take a throw-in when a young supporter in the front row reached out and poked the Argentine twice in the bum.
A number of fans nearby burst out laughing but the player himself was furious, turning around and arguing with the supporter before eventually getting on with the game.
He was still seething afterwards, though, and did not see the funny side, instead calling for action from La Liga and even likening the incident – which he felt was tantamount to sexual assault – to racism.
‘You can see what happened in the images,’ he told DAZN Espana after the game.
‘I hope that La Liga takes it as seriously as they take racism and these things.
‘I don’t think all the Rayo fans are like that because they have always treated us with respect, but there is always one fool.

‘I hope it doesn’t happen in other areas, because if this had happened in the women’s game we know what can happen.
‘I kept my calm because I have two daughters, I hope this doesn’t happen to them in the future.
‘I hope that the action that has to be taken is taken, and I hope that a fool like this does not stain a set of fans who otherwise behaved very well.’

Probed further on how he managed to restrain himself, Ocampos told radio station COPE: ‘If I had reacted badly to the fan then my season would be over and I wouldn’t play again this year.’
Ocampos’ manager, Quique Sanchez Flores, was also unhappy with what happened and believes it underlines a certain lawlessness that is creeping into Spanish football stadiums.
‘You have to ask yourself what is happening,’ he said when asked about the incident.
‘It worries me a lot and it’s dangerous that there are crazy-minded people going into the stadiums and harming football. I hope this does not happen again.’
