Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr are set to offer Raphael Varane a lucrative escape route from Manchester United.
The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season, with United resisting the temptation to trigger a 12-month extension clause in his deal.
That would have seen Varane continue on his £350,000-a-week wages until 2025, but the club want him to agree to a reduced contract.
While Varane is open to that idea, he will not significantly reduce his wages.
That opens up the possibility that he could leave at the end of the season on a free transfer.

The Daily Star say the removal of a transfer fee could see Varane earn even more with a move to Saudi Arabia, as Al-Nassr could offer him wages of £50m-a-year.
Ronaldo’s move to the club has helped attract the likes of Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte.
Varane was Ronaldo’s team-mate for close to a decade in Madrid, as well as 18 months at Old Trafford.
United hope to sign at least one centre-back in the summer, with Jean-Clair Todibo and Jarrod Brainthwaite on their wishlist.
