A New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain and senatorial candidate in the last general election, Prof. (Arc) Geoff Onyejegbu, said former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso would prioritise security if he becomes president in 2027.

Onyejegbu, a retired Army Colonel and former Nigerian Military Attachée to the United States in Washington DC Mission, said Kwankwaso’s presidency holds the key to effectively curbing all forms of insurgency and terrorism plaguing the nation.

The NNPP chieftain stated this during the victory celebration of the Kwankwasiya’s Movement in Kano,  following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf as Kano State governor.

Onyejegbu said during the last general elections, Kwankwaso and this campaign team went through the 36 states and 546 local government areas in Nigeria and was welcomed in dreadedplaces, including some areas in Abuja which underscores the former governor acceptance as a leader with the track record to steer Nigeria out of the doldrums.

According to the professor, Kwankwaso’s record of governance and commitment to security initiatives as former governor and minister for defense positions him as the ideal candidate to address the pressing security challenges.

He also said Kwankwaso, as governor of Kano State, implemented innovative security strategies that significantly reduced crime rates and restored peace and stability in the state.

Onyejegbu said the former governor’s ability to tackle complex security threats with a blend of pragmatism and decisiveness.

He said Kwankwaso’s comprehensive approach to security will not only prioritises military intervention but also socio-economic development and community engagement.

“This holistic approach is crucial for addressing the root causes of insurgency and terrorism and fostering lasting peace and stability across the nation” he said.

He therefore appealed to well-meaning Nigerians from all works of life to rally support for the Kano born politician in the build up to the 2027 general elections, noting that Nigerians have a duty to consider Senator Kwankwaso’s proven leadership credentials and vision for a safer, more prosperous Nigeria.

He however reaffirmed the NNPP’s unwavering support for Kwankwaso’s presidential candidacy, citing his demonstrated capacity to steer Nigeria towards a future free from the scourge of insurgency and terrorism.
