Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a move for Roma’s Paulo Dybala as they look to provide additional firepower to their forward line.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side made in three wins in a row with their 4-0 FA Cup victory over Preston North End on the weekend.

However, they are now struggling for forward options, with Nicolas Jackson set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations later this week and Christopher Nkunku now struggling with a hip problem.

Chelsea have been long-time admirers of both Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen but could be priced out of a move for both due to financial fair play regulations.

But reports from TuttoMercatoWeb suggest the Blues may have found a cut-price option in the form of Dybala who currently plays for Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

The Argentine has scored five goals and provided six assists in 13 Serie A games this season but has a meagre release clause of just £10.3million currently in his contract.

When asked on Monday about Chelsea’s January transfer plans, Pochettino was tight-lipped but revealed he has held discussions with the Chelsea hierarchy over incoming business.

‘We are assessing the squad like always,’ he said when asked about the meeting.

‘We have a conversation with the owners and sporting director yesterday and today. We are looking at all the team for options.

‘But I am happy because we have different options to play in the striker positions and then we need our second line offensive players to step up and score and help the team score and win games.

‘I’m very positive, I’m happy with the squad and if something appears we will announce but at the moment we are working normally as we have done all season.’

Chelsea are in action away to Middlesbrough on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final showdown.
