Tottenham’s hopes of signing Genoa ace Radu Dragusin have been dealt a major blow after Bayern Munich joined the race for his signature.

The Romanian defender had been set for a move to north London, with a £30m fee reportedly close to being agreed.

Tottenham’s problems at centre-back are well documented, with Sergio Romero and Micky van de Ven currently sidelined with hamstring issues.

Dragusin, 21, had been identified to ease Spurs’ injury problems and Bayern Munich had even lined up Eric Dier.

However, reports in Romania and Germany now say Bayern have switched their attention to Dragusin.

Thomas Tuchel wants to beef up his defence following the injury problems suffered by Matthijs de Ligt in the last 18 months.

It’s claimed Bayern want a ‘quick resolution’ and are willing to pay the £30m that Genoa are demanding so that Dragusin can join in the next week.

It would be a major blow for Ange Postecoglou, who had made signing a centre-back early in the January window a priority.

Spurs could reignite their interest in Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice, though the Ligue 1 club want to hold onto the defender for the rest of the season.
