Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has allayed fears over Virgil van Dijk after the Dutchman was left out of the Reds’ FA Cup clash against Arsenal.
The defender was a notable absentee as Klopp named a strong starting XI for the visit to the Emirates in the third round of the cup.
Van Dijk has been back to a version of his best this season, following a mixed campaign last term.
Liverpool have suffered injuries to the backline this season, with Andy Robertson and Joel Matip facing long spells on the sidelines.
With Van Dijk missing today, supporters feared he could the latest player set for time out.
But Klopp says Van Dijk is ill, and he’s hopeful that he will return to training later next week.

‘Virgil is ill,’ said Klopp.
‘We will see how he feels tomorrow. We need to see if he can make the next one. But today was no chance.’
