Manchester United have reportedly included Premier League flop Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting on their shortlist as they look to sign a striker in January.
Goals have been hard to come by for United this season and only bottom sides Burnley and Sheffield United have scored fewer than their tally of 22.
Key to this problem have been their centre-forwards, with Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial netting just two league goals between them so far.
As a result, the Red Devils are in search of some more firepower this January and according to The Athletic there are four names on their shortlist – all of whom are Bundesliga based.
Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller and Stuttgart sensation Serhou Guirassy have been linked with Old Trafford for some time, while RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner has reemerged as a target.
United are reportedly in talks to sign the 27-year-old just 18 months after he left Chelsea following a highly disappointing spell at Stamford Bridge.
But it is the fourth name that will raise eyebrows the highest, as Choupo-Moting is being discussed as a cut-price option given that his contract at Bayern expires this summer.

The 34-year-old forward previously spent one ill-fated season in England, scoring just five goals in 32 games for Stoke City as the Potters were relegated to the Championship in 2018.
His next career moves made headlines however, as he ended up signing for PSG, earning cult hero status as he helped the French giants reach their first Champions League final – though a record of nine goals in 51 games is hardly anything to write home about.
A switch to Munich has yielded a better return, with the Cameroon international finding the back of the net a career-best 17 times last season.
