Vladimir Putin has been humiliated after his own missile headed for Ukraine misfired and hit Russia.
Footage shows the carnage in Petropavlovka, Voronezh region, where at least six houses were damaged in the explosion earlier this morning.
Half a street was left incinerated and a huge crater can be seen in the ground in the village located some 95 miles from the border with Ukraine.
Officials denied any casualties in the attack, which was first blamed on Ukraine’s military.

Residents were seen checking the scene, while a man was heard pleading: ‘Where is Vovka [Vladimir]? Alive or not? Damn, damn. Alive or not? F***ing hell.’
Ukrainian sources believe a powerful subsonic Kh-101/555 missile hit the village after a misfiring from an unspecified Russian warplane.
A Russian defence ministry spokesperson admitted a missile intended for Ukraine had hit Petropavlovka in error.
‘On January 2, at about 9am, during a flight of an [air force] plane over the village of Petropavlovka, an abnormal discharge of aircraft ammunition occurred.

‘There were no casualties. Six private buildings were damaged. An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
‘A commission is working on site to assess the nature of the damage and assist in the restoration of houses.’
Readovka, a pro-war Russian media outlet, initially blamed Ukraine for the attack on Petropavlovka.
‘The Kyiv regime was aiming at an ordinary peaceful village where people were relaxing on [the New Year] holidays,’ reported the outlet.
It came as Russia dropped hundreds of missiles on Ukraine including a record number of hypersonic Kinzhals that can fly at 10 times the speed of sound.
It was one of the most savage attacks of the war and Volodymyr Zelensky said at least four people were killed and 92 others wounded.
