Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was impressed with Amad Diallo’s cameo in his side’s defeat to Nottingham Forest.
The Red Devils ended 2023 on a sour note after a 2-1 loss at the Forest Ground.
United got back into the game when Marcus Rashford equalised with ten minutes to go but Morgan Gibbs-White scored a late winner.
Rasmus Hojlund’s illness meant Antony came into the side, which pushed Alejandro Garnacho to the left wing and Rashford into a central position.
However, the Brazilian was taken off after an hour following an ineffective performance.
The winger has scored just one Premier League goal in 2023, despite 33 appearances.
United improved almost instantly after Antony made way for Diallo.
The Ivorian has been out for the last six months with a knee injury but he returned to training earlier this month.

And Ten Hag reserved praise for the former Atalanta winger.
“In the second half, they [the attackers] were in the match.
‘I thought Amad Diallo came in really good, Alejandro Garnacho played a very good game, I think,’ said Ten Hag.
‘How he fought for that all the time and prepared the goal, a good goal by Marcus Rashford.’
