The bodies of five people including a woman and her four children have been found in a flat.
Their bodies were found late on Christmas Day evening in Meaux, France, 25 miles from the French capital.
The children are aged between nine months and 10 years old and police were looking for the father but arrested a man today.
The alarm was raised after relatives said they received no response from the family.
Prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier said there was no sign of break-in in the flat and the children’s father was not present.
