With the North East Development Commission coming into play, the lost glory of the sub-region would not only be completely restored, but make it even more better to its inhabitants, according to a non-governmental organization, North East Elders and Youths Peoples Forum (NEEYPF).
To this end, NEEYPF appealed to the traditional institutions consisting in the sub-region, especially the one in Maiduguri to recognize and confer a befitting traditional title on Mohammed Goni Alkali, the Managing Director of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), as appreciation for his contributions to peace and development
According to the organization chairman, Alh. Salisu Magaji, the NEDC under Mohammed Goni Alkali has in the last four years to a significant aspect transformed the sub-region through peace building, infrastructural development and provision of shelter, particularly the internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The NEEYPF chairman told a press conference in Bauchi Wednesday that, “By the Grace of Allah, we will soon fix a date that we will present An Exemplary Leadership Award to the NEDC Managing Director, Mohammed Goni Alkali. So we are appealing to traditional institutions to give Alkali a befitting title, as a mark of appreciation to his developmental and impact projects execution.
Magaji described managing Director Alkali as a man of integrity and good standing, saying “We quite appreciate his humility, inclusive, we love his exceptional and exemplary leadership style, which we believe is worthy of emulation by any visionary leader”.
