The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has deployed 2,350 personnel across the state to provide watertight security during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
In a statement by the Osun State Commander, Sunday Agboola and issued by the spokesperson, Adeleke Kehinde in Osogbo on Wednesday, the command revealed that the personnel has been told to carry out covert and overt intelligence operations and round-the-clock surveillance to ensure that criminally minded people do not perform their anti-social acts during the Yuletide festivities.
The Commandant while assuring members of the public of a massive security arrangement in the state also warned miscreants who are planning to cause a breakdown of law and order to have a change of mind.
“NSCDC personnel would be deployed to worship centres, marketplaces, recreation centres, critical infrastructure and some other flash points in the state.
“Miscreants who are planning to cause a breakdown of law and order should have a change of mind, as they would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“The command is collaborating with other sister agencies to provide adequate security in Osun State.
“I charge personnel who are deployed for the assignment to be civil but firm in the discharge of their duties.”
The Osun NSCDC boss who congratulated Christians in the state as they joined other faithfuls across the globe to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, enjoined those who will be travelling during this festive period to avoid night travels, over-speeding, over loading and stopping on lonely roads.
“Suspicious movements should be reported to the nearest security agency.
