Harry Kane scored Bayern Munich’s second goal in a 2-1 win at Wolfsburg on Wednesday night, continuing the outrageously good first season he is enjoying in Germany.

Jamal Musiala opened the scoring for the Bavarians before the England captain doubled their lead 43 minutes in.

Maximillian Arnold scored for the home side in first-half stoppage time, but that was the last of the goals as Bayern went back within four points of Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Kane’s goal on Wednesday evening was his 21st in the league this season in just 15 games.

The former Tottenham man sits top of the Bundesliga top-scorers charts, four clear of his closest rival, Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart.

The England captain has also provided five assists in the Bundesliga this season taking his goal involvements tally to 26.

Opta report that 26 goal involvements was the most managed by anyone in the division last season, with Randal Kolo Muani hitting that tally, Kane has reached that point before Christmas.

Bayern now head off on their winter break, not back in Bundesliga action until they host Hoffenheim on 12 January.

‘I can’t wait, it was not easy most of the time without the kids and my wife,’ said Kane. ‘I will text my friends and mates on Boxing day with a picture from the beach.’

He posted on social media: ‘Perfect way to sign off for the winter break! Have loved my first few months at Bayern and in Munich. Looking forward to a rest then back in the new year to go again.’
