Liverpool are speaking to youngster Fabio Carvalho about what to do with his immediate future, considering recalling him from his loan spell at RB Leipzig and sending him out elsewhere.
The former Fulham star has not found much success at the German club, making just one start in the Bundesliga since his short-term switch from Anfield.
The 21-year-old has made 12 appearances in all competitions but has failed to score or make much impression at all so the Reds are considering their options for him, reports The Athletic.
The report states that Carvalho is unlikely to come back and play for Liverpool over the rest of this season, but if the club decides to end his stint in Germany then he will be loaned out elsewhere.
RB Leipzig begin their winter break on 19 December and a decision is expected to be made on the Portugal Under-21 star’s future then.
Speaking earlier this month of the Liverpool man, Leipzig boss Marco Rose sounded keen to continue working with him for the rest of the season.
‘He’s a good boy, a good footballer. You can see his qualities,’ Rose said of Carvalho.
‘He has real goals in front of him in his position. He’s close, but he has to stick with it. Then he’ll definitely get opportunities again and again, to show yourself.
‘He is broadening our squad and has been getting more playing time in the last few games. He has to use this and excel in training too.’
