Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has revealed that she received death threats over her pregnancy rumours.
DAILY POST recalls that Tems sparked pregnancy rumours after she was spotted at Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 London Fashion Week show, donning a black dress with a purple fluffy coat and matching heels, and many thought that the way the dress was clinging to her body suggested that she was pregnant.
Speaking in a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, the Oscar-nominated diva said she received social media DMs questioning the choice of American rapper Future, who was allegedly responsible for her supposed pregnancy.
Tems said she has never met the American rapper, despite them working together on the rapper’s Grammy-winning song, ‘Wait For U’ alongside Drake.
She said: “When I heard [the rumours] that I was pregnant, I didn’t actually think anybody believed it. I didn’t know it was serious until I started getting messages like death threats, like, ‘How dare you? Of all the people in the world, Future, really?’ And I’ve never met him in my life. So it’s crazy.”
Tems also disclosed during the interview that she “would like to direct a video for Asake.”
She said: “I love him. I can tell that he is very artistic.”
She explained that her likeness for the YBNL star is “just for work, just to direct his [music] video.”
