Mikel Arteta has praised Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya for his ‘really, really impressive’ form despite his latest blunders in the 4-3 win over Luton Town.
Raya has made a series of errors since replacing Aaron Ramsdale as the Gunners’ No.1 ‘keeper, most recently letting in two soft goals in the victory against Luton.
But Arteta has played down those mistakes as the debate over Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation rumbles on.
‘If you look at his form and what he has achieved since he’s been with us, it’s really, really impressive,’ Arteta said about Raya before the trip to Aston Villa.
‘What can I say? I have three great goalkeepers and I’m really happy… We have to support our players in the best possible way.
‘We have to protect them and get the best out of them. I will focus much more on that. Every player needs support and love and they deserve that.
‘[He’s had that] from us, for sure, and he will continue to have that.’
