The periodic annual demand for Christmas music has soared as the festive season draws near.
Research conducted by gambling site, CSGOLuck, analysed Christmas songs released within the past 50 years to determine the most streamed songs on Spotify and each song’s estimated earnings.
The research also looked at the ‘playlist reach’ for each song, which examined how many user-created Spotify playlists included the song.
Here are the top 10 songs:
1. ‘Last Christmas’ By Wham
Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ has been listened to on Spotify 1.9 billion times. The 1986 hit is the highest-earning and most streamed Christmas song that has been released in the past 50 years.
2. ‘All I Want For Christmas is You’ By Mariah Carey
Released in 1994, Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas is You’ has been streamed a remarkable 1.5 billion times.
3. ‘Santa Tell Me’ By Ariana Grande
This song has been listened to 896 million times on Spotify.
4. ‘It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas’ By Michael Buble
With 864 million streams, this song ranks number four.
5. ‘Snowman’ by Sia
Sia’s ‘Snowman’ from her 2017 Christmas album ‘Everyday is Christmas’ ranks as the fifth most streamed Christmas song. The song has been streamed over 724 million times on Spotify, earning an estimated $5,799,889 in royalties. The song had a surge in popularity after trending on TikTok in November 2020, becoming a modern-day Christmas classic.
6. ‘Mistletoe’ By Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber’s 2011 Christmas song ”Mistletoe’ has been streamed 669 million times.
7. ‘Feliz Navidad’ By Jose Feliciano
This 2014 song has been streamed 555 million times.
8. ‘Underneath the Tree’ By Kelly Clarkson
This song has been streamed over 494 million times on Spotify.
9. ‘Holly Jolly Christmas’ By
Michael Bublé
Again, Michael Bublé ranks in the top 10 with ‘Holly Jolly Christmas’ in ninth place. This song has been streamed over 483 million times.
10. ‘Happy Xmas (War is Over)’ By John Lennon
Ranking in 10th place, this song has been streamed 467 million times on Spotify.
