Aaron Ramsdale is reportedly ‘open’ to a move to Newcastle as the Magpies look for a replacement for Nick Pope.
Pope suffered a shoulder injury in the closing stages of Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United with Martin Dubravka coming on to replace him for the final minutes.
Eddie Howe offered a bleak update after the win at St James’ Park and while the Magpies are awaiting the results of a scan, reports suggest he will likely need surgery and could face up to five months out.
Such a lay-off would keep the 31-year-old out for the rest of the season and Newcastle are now said to be considering replacements with the transfer window reopening next month.
According to TalkSport, one of those targets could be Arsenal’s Ramsdale who is reportedly open to the move.
The Englishman lost his place as first-choice keeper at the Emirates following the summer signing of David Raya and will be considering a move to keep his Euro 2024 hopes alive.
It is unclear whether any move would be permanent or a loan deal, with the 25-year-old set to command a £50million fee.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has made it clear on numerous occasions that Ramsdale remains a key member of their squad this season.
‘I have no messages for other clubs,’ the Spaniard previously said when asked about reported interest in Ramsdale’s services.
‘I can talk about my players, how much I like my players, how much I like Aaron. We want Aaron with us, that’s for sure.’

Another option being considered by Newcastle is David de Gea who is still a free agent following his departure from Manchester United over the summer.
De Gea was thought to be earning £375,000-a-week on his last contract in Manchester and would have to accept a lower offer were Newcastle to firm up their interest, according to the Daily Mail.
