Dr. Itorobong Etim, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance in the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, has assured that the 2024 Appropriation bill will be passed before December 31.
Etim made the remarks while addressing reporters on the 2024 appropriation bill brought to the Assembly for consideration by Gov. Umo Eno.
She urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to work with the Committee throughout the budget defense in order to expedite the passage of the 2024 budget.
Etim, who represents the Uruan state constituency, noted that because the government is a continuum, the governor would continue with the programmes started by the previous administration.
“I want to assure members of the public that the Committee will be willing to interface with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure the passage of the bill within record time,” Etim said.
She urged heads of MDAs to work with the committee since it would not tolerate any excessive delays during the budget defense.
The chairman further said that the governor had mentioned that the 2024 budget would focus on improving the agriculture sector in order to achieve food sufficiency for Akwa Ibom residents.
