A promising 13-year-old football talent collapsed and died after colliding with another player during a talent scouting match.
The boy, identified as Ernesto Ricardo Salomon, nicknamed Neto, was playing for the Pumas de Tres Valles youth team A when he collided with the unnamed player during a scouting match to recruit talented footballers.
The tragic incident took place in the community of Papaloapan, in the city of Tierra Blanca, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico on 8th November.
After the collision, he collapsed and lost consciousness and the match was put on hold.
Despite attempts by his parents, who were coaching and refereeing, and other spectators to resuscitate him, he died.
Public ministry and expert services personnel, along with investigators, soon arrived at the scene.
They cordoned off the area while unsuccessfully trying to resuscitate him.
His body was then taken to the Institute of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.
The investigative bodies have not disclosed the cause at the time of writing, although local media claimed it was due to a sudden heart attack from the collision.

Ernesto’s body was later taken to Telesecundaria Cuauhtemoc for his school to bid him farewell.
His funeral was subsequently held in Tierra Blanca, Veracruz, with the community surrounding the family during this difficult time.
Several sporting teams in the Tierra Blanca city including Ernesto’s Club sent their condolences.
