Rio Ferdinand says he ‘pukes inside his mouth’ every time former Manchester United target Harry Kane scores

Rio Ferdinand is even more devastated that Manchester United didn’t sign Harry Kane having seen how successful he’s been at Bayern Munich.

United were heavily linked with the England captain over the summer, who it was said was Erik ten Hag’s top target as he looked to bring in a new striker.

But ultimately a deal could not be done, partially as Tottenham were unwilling to sell their best player to a Premier League rival.

Kane would end up joining Bayern for £100million, while United signed Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta for £72m.

And, so far at least, the German giants certainly got the better deal, with Kane recording a remarkable 21 goals and seven assists in just 16 games across all competitions.

In fact, with 17 in just 11 league games, the 30-year-old has already surpassed the goal tally for last season’s Bundesliga golden boot winners Niclas Fullkrug and Christopher Nkunku.

While many expected the striker to perform well, few could have predicted this level of performance and Kane will have his sights set on Robert Lewandowksi’s record of 41 Bundesliga goals in a single season.

All this has rubbed salt in Ferdinand’s wound, especially after Kane recently bagged his third Bayern hat-trick in a 4-0 win against rivals Borussia Dortmund.

‘His third hat-trick!’ the United legend exclaimed on the FIVE podcast.

‘Every time I see Harry Kane’s name come up with the match ball and a hat-trick, I puke inside my mouth.

Meanwhile, Hojlund has shown great potential, scoring five in four Champions League games, but is far from the finished article and is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

United have struggled for goals all season, with forwards Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri scoring just one goal and making two assists between them.
