Bayelsa Poll: 60 Patrol Vehicles, 300 Security Operatives On Guard As INEC Begins Result Collation

More than 60 security patrol vehicles as well as over 300 security operatives have been drafted to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, as the commission begins the collation of results in the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state.

More than 300 security operatives,,comprising personnel of the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were seen providing security for the INEC facility.

Also, on ground to provide security, were operatives of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Air Force.

Stern-looking soldiers, from the Nigerian Army, made sure that every person that passes the road leading to the INEC office, including journalists, was thoroughly searched before allowing to go.

Meanwhile, hundreds of supporters of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and incumbent governor, Senator Duoye Diri, have taken over the major street leading to the INEC office in anticipation of the outcome of the election.

LEADERSHIP observed that the supporters, comprising of men, women and youths were seen singing and dancing, even in the presence of security operatives guarding the road and the facility.
