The Nigerian Army has begun moves towards ensuring that criminals plotting to have a field day during Yuletide in Ondo State do not succeed.
With a vow to flush out kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminals from the state, a field training exercise tagged ‘Exercise Still Water’ was flagged off.
While flagging off the exercise in Owo, headquarters of the Owo Local Government Area of the state, Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade in the state, Brig-Gen Muktar Adamu, said the exercise will further identify criminal hideouts.
Adamu, who was represented by Col Jibril Garba, the garrison commander, added that kidnappers, armed robbers, drug peddlers, armed bandits, and cultists, among others, would be well dealt with.
He added that the exercise was designed to checkmate all forms of crime as the Yuletide season approaches and to simulate tactical operations.
“All criminal elements operating in the 32 Artillery Brigade area of responsibility should desist from their nefarious activities or face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
Adamu appealed to other security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to assist the military with credible information about security concerns in order to make the state safe.
He said, “As we are in the ‘ember months’ which attract increased criminal activities, it is necessary to set in motion different avenues to checkmate and stop the rise in criminal activities within the Brigade’s area of responsibility.”
