Alan Shearer feels Newcastle were ‘totally dominant’ against Manchester United (Picture: Getty)
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has labelled Manchester United ‘a complete mess’ after his old club smashed them 3-0 at Old Trafford.
Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock got on the scoresheet on Wednesday night to ramp up the pressure on Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.
The result means that Ten Hag’s side are now out of the Carabao Cup while they are also as low as eighth in the Premier League in a horrific start to the campaign.
Newcastle’s impressive victory marks revenge for Eddie Howe’s men, who lost to the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup final last season.
Magpies icon Shearer could not hide his excitement after the match as he posted on Twitter: ‘Total domination from the Toon.
‘Magnificent from start to finish from every single player. One team playing for the badge the other team a complete mess. TOONTOON.’
Meanwhile, Paul Merson has urged United’s board to urgently consider sacking Ten Hag.

‘This needs to get sorted and personally I think it’s toxic,’ Merson said.
‘They are all over the place and if not for a last-minute penalty they would have drawn at home to Copenhagen. Come on, get serious.
‘For me, he is under serious pressure and they have got to have a meeting and see what they do. He has lost the players, you don’t start getting beat the way they are getting beat.’
