Jamie Carragher has made some interesting predictions surrounding Arsenal and Manchester United for the upcoming Carabao Cup round of 16.
With Manchester City and Tottenham already knocked out, the two clubs are considered the favourites to win the cup alongside Liverpool.
Arsenal travel across London to West Ham on Wednesday night, while struggling United host Newcastle in a repeat of last season’s final.
While no doubt a tricky fixture, the Gunners are largely expected to ease past the Irons who go into the game at the London Stadium in mixed form.
David Moyes’ side have lost their last three games, most recently a league defeat at home to Everton, though they remain a respectable ninth in the table.
Mikel Arteta’s men have lost just one of their 15 games in all competitions so far this season, yet Carragher believes it will be the Irons who will emerge victorious.

Writing in his EFL predictions, the Liverpool legend said: ‘This one’s a big one. I think it’ll be a really tight game and Arsenal will make a few changes.
‘It depends on what teams get put out because I’m not sure the changes West Ham will make with them being in the Europa League as well, so I’m going to go for West Ham on penalties.’

As for United, their woeful loss in the Manchester derby may well put them on the back foot for their clash with Newcastle who have looked impressive all season, even if results haven’t always gone their way.
The Magpies have won just one of their last four games but did knock Manchester City out of the cup in the previous round and some have tipped them to repeat the feat against the Red Devils.

But Carragher doesn’t believe Eddie Howe’s side will get their revenge adding: ‘I’m going to go for Manchester United. I know United have got a lot of injuries at the moment, but I think if they can get a few back for that, they’ve still got a deeper squad than Newcastle.
‘I think both teams will make changes, but I think home advantage and I think Manchester United will just get through. Prediction: Man Utd 1-0 Newcastle.’
