Erling Haaland had to be held back as staff from Manchester City and Arsenal clashed at full-time following Sunday’s intense meeting at the Emirates.

The Gunners recorded a 1-0 victory over their Premier League title rivals as Gabriel Martinelli scored an 86th-minute winner in dramatic scenes.

Emotions spilled over after the final whistle as the two teams and their respective staff walked into the tunnel, with Haaland seen being held back by City staff while his team-mate Kyle Walker was kept away from Arsenal staff by security officials.

Haaland and Walker seemed to be angered by something said to the pair after they had applauded their away fans in north London and Arsenal’s set piece coach Nicolas Jover appeared to be involved in the subsequent clash.

Goal machine Haaland may have upset Arsenal staff in the build-up to Sunday’s battle after his comments about City’s title triumph last term, in which he claimed that he ‘knew’ his side would win the league despite being five points behind.

The Norway international, who netted a record 36 Premier League goals last season, was kept quiet on Sunday and failed to get on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Haaland’s former team-mate Gabriel Jesus, reflecting on Arsenal’s massive win, said: ‘For sure [it is a big win]. Everyone knows how hard it is to play against them.

‘But it is not impossible to beat them. You have to congratulate them on how they worked or played, but it is our home.

‘We had to run, fight, be efficient and score goals. I am happy for Gabi [Martinelli] that he comes on and scores. That shows how strong our team is.

‘It is not easy playing three games in one week. I did this. I think I am back with my fitness. I have been fighting, running and helping the team. But as Gabi says, the whole team played amazing and we won the game.’
