Roy Hodgson has recovered from illness and will be back in the dugout this weekend, Crystal Palace have announced.

The 76-year-old manager was ‘taken unwell’ last Saturday morning and subsequently missed his side’s 3-1 loss at Aston Villa.

It was not clear why exactly the former England boss was ill, but thankfully his club issued a very positive update on Tuesday.

‘We are delighted to confirm Roy Hodgson led Crystal Palace training today,’ a statement from the Eagles read.

‘The manager was absent from Saturday’s match at Villa Park but will return to the dugout for Saturday’s match against Fulham at Selhurst Park.’

Hodgson will be looking to maintain Palace’s solid start to the season against his former club, with the Eagles ninth in the Premier League with seven points from five games.

However, things are less positive on the injury front for the players, as it was also reported on Tuesday that star forward Michael Olise has suffered a setback as he recovers from a hamstring tear.

The winger, who was heavily linked with Chelsea over the summer, tore his hamstring while playing for the France U21s in June but was expected to return to action in October.

But The Athletic claim that he suffered an injury to the same hamstring last week and will not be back before the next international break, meaning he’ll miss the huge league and cup double header against Manchester United.

Adding to the South Londoners’ woes, fellow forward Jordan Ayew could also be absent for the clash against the Cottagers after being subbed off in the first-half against Villa with a dead leg.

This leaves Hodgson perilously short on attacking options, with summer signing Matheus Franca still not yet fit to play either.

Thankfully he does have the fine form of Odsonne Edouard to count on, with the striker having netted four league goals so far, with only Erling Haaland ahead of him in the scoring charts.
