EFCC urges citizens to report cybercrimes

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has urged citizens to report electronic fraud cases for investigation.

Idoko Stephen Etubi, Head of Cybercrime Section at the Enugu Zonal Command of the commission, stated this in a sensitisation message to participants at the Nigerian Communications Commission-organized awareness event tagged “Shine Your Eyes, No Fall Mugu” at Abakaliki International Market, Ebonyi State, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

Etube, who represented Naibi Aliyu, the Zonal Commander, said: “Immediately you see something, say something, and EFCC will do something because all those people wey dey do una yahoo-yahoo na we dey fight them for una.”

In his welcome address, the Head of Consumer Protection and Advocacy Unit of the Consumer Affairs Bureau, Clement Omife, said effective collaboration among government agencies, private organisations, and individuals is critical to tackling the scourge of electronic fraud.
