The former Deputy Majority Leader of the Senate, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, on Wednesday hailed the judiciary for not allowing distractions and intimidation to sway the delivery of the judgement, which affirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima.
According to the former lawmaker, the judgement has no doubt enriched and deepened the country’s jurisprudence.
While congratulating Tinubu for his triumph at the Presidential Electoral Petition Tribunal, Boroffice emphasised that the victory resonated and aligned with the expectations of the majority of Nigerians.
He emphasised the significance of the judiciary’s unwavering commitment to the rule of law, asserting that its impartiality and dedication to upholding the sanctity of elections have strengthened Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
Boroffice further highlighted the positive impact of the ruling on the nation’s legal framework, as it sets a precedent for future electoral disputes.
“The affirmation of the presidential mandate conforms with the wishes of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and aligns with the expectations of the majority of Nigerians who voted en masse for the APC during the 2023 presidential election.
“The Judiciary is commended for rising above the obnoxious distractions and intimidation mounted by opposition forces to deliver such a landmark judgement that has without doubt enriched and deepened the jurisprudence in Nigeria.
“I pray for renewed strength for the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration in the tough task of navigating Nigeria through fundamental economic reforms with huge medium- and long-term economic benefits for all Nigerians.”
