Okoro Godson Chimamkpam a.k.a Big Gezzy is a native of Ngugo Assa autonomous community of Imo State in Nigeria. Born and raised in Yenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State, he was born on the first of May 1999 in a local clinic located in Opolo, Yenagoa.
His mother, Rita Chidinma Ukaegbu and his father, Okoro Felix Obioma, are from Abia State and Imo State, respectively.
With music as a passion and what big Gezzy loves doing best, he never really had the opportunity to go the studio to actually record for his music.
Although he has so many written songs but never went to the studio not until 2023 when he decided to chase his dream and passion. He picked the courage and went for his first studio session. Although it was at his friend’s brother’s house, who was a producer but was unable to produce for them. His friends – lil sauce, Gvybes and 59, who also are into music, tried forming a record label (Dream Boys) to help them do music together but due to some unforseen circumstances, Dream Boys couldn’t pull through.
Without negative energy and with focus, he decided not give up but continue with what he had already started. His first attempt was a release on audiomack “call me” which his elder brother, Okoro Chinedu Charles, played his role in assisting him on his first studio work and has since been a big story to trying to help develop himself in doing music.
Speaking on his trajectory, Gezzy said the development “gave me the boldness to carry on.”
During his early age, he loved Wizkid and Justin Bieber. He most times sang and danced to songs of the two artistes mentioned. He now sees Wizkid as his mentor, who he will one day grow up to his standard or above whichever way it is.
“Doing music is what gives me happiness and I am always comfortable doing music.
“And I really admire a lot of big artistes out there. I just hope one day my music will spread wide across the globe. And let my music tell the people a different story, I want to live in the glory of God,” Gezzy added.
