Palliative: Bauchi Govt Procures N2bn Rice For Distribution

 

In its efforts to reduce current economic hardships following the removal of fuel subsidy, the Bauchi State government has procured N2 billion worth of rice for distribution to citizens of the state.

State commissioner for humanitarian affairs and disaster management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, disclosed this to reporters in a press conference at the press gallery of the Government House Bauchi, yesterday.

Wanka said each bag of rice cost the state government N22,500.

The commissioner added that the government approved the N800 million for the payment of gratuities to state and local government retirees in the state.

She said N500million will be used to pay gratuities to state retirees while N300 million goes to local government retirees, adding that the move is to reduce the hardships faced by retirees in the light of the current economic difficulties.
