Manchester United have completed the loan signing of Sofyan Amrabat.

Erik ten Hag identified the Fiorentina midfielder as a key target but has had to wait until the final hours of the transfer window to land a player who impressed during the World Cup last year.

The 27-year-old worked with Ten Hag during their time together at Utrecht, but he will have to wait until after the international break to make his debut and is ineligible to play against Arsenal on Sunday.

Hampered by a Financial Fair Play restrictions and a lack of investment from the Glazers, United had to dig deep to secure the signing of Amrabat who had been attracting rival interest from Fulham.

United’s chief transfer negotiator, Matt Hargreaves, was dispatched to Florence on Friday morning before a £10million loan fee was agreed.
