Former World No5 Ian, 47, shot a second round 70 to finish the day on three under par, safely inside the cut.
But Luke, 19, who was making his debut in a professional golf event, looked set to miss out as he was three shots adrift of the three over par cut-off heading onto the 16th hole.
He then produced a stunning finish, hitting a birdie, an eagle and a par to finish on the three over par required to make it to Saturday.
And moments after he achieved the feat, his dad, watching on from outside the green, congratulated him as they celebrated with a hug.
Reacting to the clip, one person said: “Love it Ian .”
Another added: “Impressing! Good teacher .”
While a third replied: “Impressive finish.”
Following his son’s sensational final three holes, Ian tweeted: “I guess we will be staying for the weekend.

“Birdie, eagle, par finish for Luke to make the cut – couldn’t be more proud.”
After rounds of 72 and 73, Luke saved his best for the Saturday when he shot a 68 to finish the day on par and make it through to the final 18.
And a 71 on the Sunday saw him finish the event on par – a good enough performance to earn him joint-22nd place.
Meanwhile, Ian came second on nine under par, seven shots adrift of runaway winner Andy Ogletree.
