Unemployed former Man Utd star David de Gea in huge transfer blow as Thomas Tuchel ‘vetoes’ Bayern Munich move

DAVID DE GEA’S move to Bayern Munich has been called off as Manuel Neuer nears a return from injury.

The German champions had been locked in talks with the released Manchester United keeper over a free transfer to the Allianz Arena.

But reports in Germany now suggest a Bayern have cooled their interest.

That’s after getting a positive update in Neuer’s recovery from his freak skiing accident.

Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg tweeted: “FC Bayern will also not sign David De Gea. It’s decided.

“Tuchel has vetoed it, especially since a return of Manuel Neuer is expected within the next few weeks.

“Talks with De Gea took place. He was willing to join FC Bayern. But it’s off now.”

The former Spain No1 has been unemployed since the expiration of his contract with the Red Devils in June.

Now a free agent, the 32-year-old was on the radar of several Saudi Pro League clubs but reports suggested he would end up in Bavaria.

However, there were major stumbling blocks in the move with De Gea’s wage demands said to be too high for Bayern.

The Spaniard was Man Utd‘s top earner before leaving Old Trafford- taking home a staggering £375,000 a week.

Bayern were in the midst of a goalkeeper crisis – with Neuer’s back-up Yann Sommer departing for Inter Milan to replace Andre Onana.

Neuer broke his right leg last December in a skiing accident, snapping his tibia and fibula.

There had been reported complications in his recovery after undergoing multiple surgeries.

But Bayern boss Tuchel is now expecting the 37-year-old Neuer to return in the coming weeks.

De Gea will now be forced to continue his wait for a new club with the season already under way.

Last season’s Premier League Golden Glove winner has also been snubbed by Real Madrid, who opted to sign Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan after Thibault Courtois’ knee injury.
