Abia State Head of Service, Joy Maduka has flagged off the physical verification exercise in the state’s civil service, with a declaration that no place would be left for ghost workers and age falsifiers.
The Head of Service stated this at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia during the physical verification exercise of Abia State civil servants.
She explained that the flag off of the exercise is coming after the conclusion of online verification recently conducted by the state government.
She noted that the verification was not designed to witch-hunt or victimize any civil servant but a brainchild of Governor Alex Otti to reposition the system for effective and efficient service delivery.
Maduka who was first to be captured at the event, listed the gains of the verification to include prompt payment of salaries and entitlements, smooth retirement migration.
She pointed out that it would also checkmate the incidence of age falsification by those who are supposed to retire at their supposed ages and time.
The Abia HoS encouraged all Abia civil servants to present themselves for verification, saying that they would reap bountifully from it, adding that the pensions crises previously experienced in the state would be solved after the verification.
She added that the verification is simultaneously going on in all the 17 LGAs of Abia.
