GARY NEVILLE ripped into Manchester United’s “non-existent midfield” following their 1-0 win over Wolves.
Erik ten Hag‘s men produced an unconvincing performance in their Premier League opener as they rode their luck on a difficult night at Old Trafford.

Raphael Varane’s 76th-minute header separated the sides as Wolves missed a host of huge chances.
And Red Devils legend Neville, 48, was left wholly unimpressed by the trio of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount in the middle of the park as he called for more balance in the team.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, he said: “Manchester United‘s midfield was non-existent, it emptied.
“It was a concern. If you watched Man Utd in pre-season, leaving Casemiro on his own when Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes go forward, it looks great.
“But you’ve got to have a balance. And the front three don’t really work hard enough in a defensive sense.
“That would have been a real worry because Wolves have got a new manager only four days ago and a lot of misery around how their season may end up, but they’ve been brilliant tonight.”
New signing Mount, 24, was replaced by Christian Eriksen midway through the second half.
And fans were not impressed by the ex-Chelsea star’s Man Utd debut.

Controversy ensued at the end of the game when Wolves were denied a penalty after Andre Onana clattered into substitute Sasa Kalajdzic.
And Ten Hag will count the victory as a fortunate one as United kicked off their campaign with a worrying display.
Next up is a trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on Spurs on Saturday.
