Chelsea ‘trigger Michael Olise’s release clause’ as Todd Boehly’s transfer spending heads towards £1bn

CHELSEA have reportedly triggered Michael Olise’s release clause at Crystal Palace.

The deal would see the Blues pay the South London outfit £35million for the exciting winger.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea are now expecting to complete the signing of the France Under-21 international after activating the clause.

Olise, 21, had also been linked with moves to Manchester City as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez and to a switch to Arsenal to provide competition for Bukayo Saka.

The deal would see Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly add another expensive star to the team since his arrival at the club last year.

So far the club have forked out £906.8million on talent including a British record fee of £115m for Moises Caicedo.

The Blues are also expected to complete the £50m signing of Southampton ace Romeo Lavia.

That combined with Olise’s fee would see the club’s spending reach £991.8m in the last year.

The Palace star has recently dropped a hint that a move it close as the removed all pictures of and mentions of his current club from his Instagram.
