FLIGHTS at Sydney Airport have been grounded after a plane was forced to turn back following an “emergency incident” in the air.
Police have swarmed the scene after reports that a passenger onboard Malaysian Airlines flight 122 was “threatening staff.”

The plane left the Australian city for Kuala Lumpur at 1.06pm, according to flight data.
But pilots performed a dramatic U-turn over New South Wales and landed back at the airport at 3.47pm.
The Airbus A330 remains on the tarmac surrounded by emergency vehicles as authorities prepared to board the plane.
Details of the incident are still emerging and social media posts of the alleged bust-up have begun to circulate.
One image shows the rowdy bloke being spoken to by cabin crew as frustrated passengers look on.
Footage of the incident was shared on Twitter by a holidaymaker who complained they were stuck on the jet.
The man wrote: “Sydney Airport is suffering at the hands of this lunatic. Praying for everyone’s safety and well being.
“Where is airport security?! It’s been well over an hour since the plane has landed back!”
A traveller told Daily Mail Australia: “The pilot just announced the situation in Sydney just got worse and is a high risk security situation.
“Our flight has been delayed two hours.”
Another said they had “never been so scared” as they watched the man’s bizarre mid-air outburst unfold.
Passengers claimed they were initially told they would be ferried to the terminal by bus while the man was apprehended by cops.
However, they have since said they were simply moved to a different part of the plane instead.
A spokesperson for the Australian Federal Police said: “We’re responding to an emergency incident at Sydney International Airport, and an update will be provided.”
A Sydney Airport spokesperson said: “We are currently supporting emergency agencies in the management of an incident at the airport.
“The airport is operational with flights arriving and departing. Passengers are encouraged to check directly with their airline regarding the status of their flight.”
