Kylian Mbappe RETURNS to training as PSG make embarrassing U-turn after exiling star over contract row

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN have restored Kylian Mbappe to first team training.

The Ligue 1 champions had banished their star forward from the main group in a bid to force him to leave the club this summer.

Mbappe, 24, was made to train with a group of “undesirables” including Georginio Wijnaldum and Julian Draxler.

The forward turned down a £259million move to Al-Hilal earlier this summer, despite having confirmed that he won’t sign a new deal in Paris.

It is expected that Mbappe will agree a deal with Real Madrid ahead of the 2024-25 season.

He watched from the stands alongside new signing and pal Ousmane Dembele as PSG drew 0-0 with Lorient in Luis Enrique’s Ligue 1 opener at Parc des Princes.

Following the match, in which PSG set a new record for most passes in a French top flight contest [1001], Mbappe was reintegrated to full training this morning.

A club statement read: “Following very constructive and positive discussions between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe before the PSG – Lorient game, the player has been reinstated into the first team training squad this morning.”

In a game of brinkmanship between PSG and Mbappe, the player reportedly suggested that he would be willing to sit out of the entire season rather than move clubs, should he continue to be left out of the first team picture.

Mbappe was omitted from PSG’s squad for their summer tour of Asia as the French side tried to find a buyer.

Liverpool and Chelsea were both linked with a move – but could not get close to agreeing a deal.

Mbappe may now return to action in next Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash with Toulouse.

French outlet Foot Mercato claim that there is renewed optimism at PSG that Mbappe could yet pen a new deal in the French capital.

They add that PSG’s summer recruitment has pleased Mbappe, as well as the potential exit of Neymar.

Enrique, 53, last night fielded a new-look front three comprising of summer signing Lee Kang-in, Goncalo Ramos and Marco Asensio.

Neymar was not involved in the matchday squad, having told PSG chiefs that he wants to leave last week.

Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal are reportedly in talks to sign the 31-year-old, who worked under Enrique at Barcelona.
