Leaders and stakeholders in the North-Central zone of the country will be hosting the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to a grand reception following his recent appointment as SGF.
The event is slated for Friday, August 18, 2023, in Abuja.
The reception taking place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, is to be anchored by the North-Central Governors’ Forum, North-Central People’s Forum and Committee of Friends of the SGF, under the chairmanship of former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, and another former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, as the Father of the Day.
Expected to grace the occasion are President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will be the Special Guest of Honour, State governors, North-Central elders, traditional and religious leaders, ministers-designate, captains of industry, friends and family of the SGF.
In preparation for the grand event, members of the Central Planning Committee (CPC) led Arch A.A. Oseze, Ezekiel Gomos, Hon. Bisi Abioye, Barr. Maureen Agbo, Hajia Larai Kolo, Hon. Kabir Ajanah, Amb. Mabdul, Chief Kanayo Okoye, Barrister David Iorhemba and the SGF’s representative, visited Senator Akume in his office on Thursday to brief him of the activities lined up by the people of the North-Central zone to celebrate one of their illustrious sons.
Akume, in his remarks, expressed delight that his home and region will be celebrating him.
Akume, a former Governor of Benue State, former Senator and former Minister, was appointed as SGF by President Tinubu shortly after being sworn-in as President and Commander-in-Chief of Nigerian Armed Forces.
