He appeared to be experiencing pain in his knee, sparking concerns of an injury.

After the match McTominay eased fears by revealing he was “alright” when asked how he felt.

But his body told a different story as the midfielder limped gingerly, with his right knee not quite right.

It remains to be seen if there is lasting damage to his knee and United will be hoping for the all-clear ahead of a potential transfer.

McTominay is believed to have a number of suitors including West Ham.

The Irons have held initial talks with United about a transfer with the Red Devils demanding £40million.

McTominay, 26, is also understood to be a target for Newcastle.

While Brighton are said to have earmarked the Scotland international as a potential replacement for Moises Caicedo, who is a target for Chelsea.
