FRANKIE DETTORI and Ben Stokes are leading candidates to be crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2023.
That’s according to bookmakers Betfair, who’ve updated their markets ahead of the 70th annual awards ceremony, which takes place on 20th December.

Dettori, 52, will hang up his riding boots after the Breeders Cup in November this year, putting an end to his glittering 35-year career.
The Italian claimed a Group 1 double at Epsom in June, and took his tally of Royal Ascot winners to a colossal 81 at this year’s festival.
If successful, Dettori would become the first jockey to win the award since Sir Anthony McCoy fended off Phil Taylor and Jessica Ennis in 2010.

But Stokes and Brendon McCullum have been credited with changing the face of Test cricket since their arrivals, setting several records during their 11 wins in 16 matches.
His England teammate Joe Root is third-favourite, but a distant 14/1 in the betting markets.
England and Arsenal forward Alessia Russo is next at 16/1.
The Lionesses are looking to add a World Cup trophy to their cabinet, which already includes the European Championships and Finalissima.
If successful, it’s likely that Russo and several of her teammates including Millie Bright (20/1) and Lauren Hemp (25/1) could see their prices shorten dramatically.
Zharnel Hughes is a newcomer to the betting market at 20/1 having smashed the British 200m record in front of a sell-out 50,000 crowd at the London Diamond League.
It is the record Hughes has broken this season, having taken Linford Christie’s 30-year-old British record for the 100m with a 9.83s in June.
Tyson Fury and Rory McIlroy are tied together at 20/1, aheads of Mark Cavendish, Harry Brook and Michael Smith at 25s.
